Root Canal Process
The first step of your root canal procedure is to apply a local anesthetic to the affected area. This helps keep you comfortable throughout the process. Then, we will make a small hole in the crown of your tooth which gives us access to the infected pulp. Next, we’ll remove the infection and thoroughly clean your tooth’s canal. After your tooth is thoroughly cleaned, we’ll seal it off with a tooth-colored material to prevent future infections. If the structure of your natural tooth has been compromised, a dental crown may be placed over it to restore its functionality.

Root Canal Therapy FAQs
Why do I need a root canal?
Root canals are necessary when decay has impacted the pulp of your tooth. Chips or cracks in your teeth may also cause decay to spread past the outer layers of your teeth as well.
Will a root canal save my tooth?
In many cases, yes. It’s possible that a dental crown may need to be placed over your natural tooth, but our goal is to avoid an extraction whenever possible.
How can root canals be prevented?
Root canals are best avoided by keeping up with your routine preventive care. Visiting our office every six months allows us to detect problem areas before they progress to needing a root canal. Additionally, ensure your at-home routine includes brushing at least twice-per-day and flossing daily.
