- Discolored Oral Patches
- Trouble Chewing or Swallowing
- Numbness of the Tongue, Lip, or Mouth

When is oral cancer screening recommended?
While oral cancer symptoms may be present, oral cancer is not always the case. Dr. Nguyen and our team always encourage annual oral cancer screening appointments for a professional evaluation. By scheduling oral cancer detection, you and our team increase the chance of oral cancer detection sooner. If you are experiencing any above symptoms, please get in touch with our team as soon as possible for oral cancer testing.
What happens during an oral cancer screening?
An oral cancer screening consists of a visual and physical exam. Once you’re comfortable in the dental chair, a friendly team member will begin the oral cancer screening by using a light, mirror, or tongue depressor to look for any abnormality. After the visual exam, our oral cancer dentist will complete the screening by gently touching your mouth, neck, and cheeks to feel for masses or lumps. We’ll then discuss your results and any concerns you may have following the screening.
