Recently, our team received additional training in sleep apnea therapy and attended an implant overdentures seminar at a Manhattan study club to sharpen our skills and soak in a few best practices. What Are Implant Overdentures?

You’ve likely heard of or seen a full arch of dentures, but did you know they can be held securely in place with as little as four dental implants? Dental implants are small, screw-like structures that are surgically placed into your jawbone to serve as either biocompatible replacement tooth roots for dental crowns or anchors for dentures. In this case, the denture will snap onto the implants to prevent slipping, clicking, or falling out.

What Did the Seminar Outline?

In this course specifically, we discussed how to properly explain the benefits of implant overdentures to our patients and how to better incorporate them into our practice. We also went over different types of dentures, how to convert a traditional denture into an overdenture, and how many implants are really necessary to hold a denture in place, as well as tips for planning their placement and using surgery guided by cone beam computed tomography.

How Will We Implement This Into Our Practice?

While we have been providing dental implants for quite some time, we’re grateful for the opportunity to observe other professionals’ techniques and solidify our understanding of this amazing procedure. Our goal now is to further incorporate our learnings into our practice through patient education. After attending this seminar, we feel better equipped to answer all of our patients’ questions and create treatment plans that are truly tailored to your smile needs.

Yesterday was my first time at Queensbroro Dental and hands down the absolute best dental visit I have ever had. I had an emergency visit for a broken molar that was in really bad shape and had the pleasure of being treated by Dr.Dan. After some quick X-rays, Dr.Dan came in to tell me the harsh truth, the tooth must go and I needed a cavity in the next tooth to be taken care of as well. Dr.Dan presented me with three treatment options also demonstrating how each one worked which was amazing. Shortly after Angie one of the receptionist’s came in with the break down of all three plans with what insurance coverages and what I would end up paying. After some careful deliberation the choice to go with an implant was made and shortly after we began. Let me tell you for a man with many big muscles he was so so gentle I honestly didn’t feel a thing and both procedures were done before I even realized it. From front desk to the dentist and even the dental assistant everyone warmed my heart which is so very rare now a days sadly. They truly do care and I will absolutely be going back for further treatment

I had the best visit with dental hygienist Thinley. This was probably the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Her approach was so gentle and she had great bedside manner. I’ve never been had such a gentle cleaning. Usually I’m tense the entire visit and waiting for it to hurt but that didn’t happen at all today. She also explained everything so thoroughly, which I appreciated. The front staff are super friendly and Dr. Barayev was also really nice. 10/10 dental experience!

Excellent service. The receptionist Jazmin is literally so sweet and the reason I even ended up coming here. She helped me book an appointment and explained cost breakdowns in an easily digestible way. Dr Dan was also very thorough and was willing to answer all of my questions and provide clarity when needed. He was very gentle and talked me through everything he was doing. At checkout I was provided with all necessary paperwork and even a little dental care package with a toothbrush toothpaste and floss; I haven’t been to a dentist who has done that in a while so that was a nice surprise.
